Purpose and Objectives

The intent of our program is to encourage and support the development of each child and to provide opportunities for self exploration and discovery. It is our goal to provide children with a wholesome, well-balanced, secure social and educational situation, based on accepted principles and knowledge of human growth and development.

The overall development (cognitive, social, emotional, physical) of the child is considered and planned for through a variety of activities. It is our objective to learn the needs of the individuals in our program and to plan for the successful fulfillment of those needs. Positive development of the child's image of self is of prime importance in the program and is a priority in all aspects of program planning.

Community Day Care is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the year. The Learning Center is licensed with the Missouri Department of health and has a capacity for 99 children, ages two through ten. The children are provided with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily in accordance with Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations.

The main goal of the facility is to provide a clean, healthy, safe, loving and stimulating environment in which parents can feel comfortable leaving their children. The Learning Center provides a full pre-school curriculum, with age appropriate activities. Each class is divided according to age groups from toddler through the special pre-kindergarten class. Children who attend local schools are able to enroll in the before and after school program. A sixty-four passenger bus provides transportation to and from Moberly Public Schools. The bus is also used for field trips and regular visits from the Pre-K class to the area elder-care facilities. Community Day Care Learning Center sponsors a program for school-age children during the summer months. The summer program offers swimming, bowling, hiking, crafts, organized games and other activities.

The staff is caring and well qualified. Each staff member is required to participate in twelve hours of in-service training each year, including First Aid and CPR. Community Day Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer and at the present time employees twenty-four people.
